¿What is La REM?
La REM is a social initiative rooted in the belief that repairing is not only a technical act, but also a cultural, emotional, and political one. Through textile repair and handcraft, we create spaces where people reconnect with care, memory, and community. We use sewing as a tool to strengthen social fabric, promote sustainable practices, and support emotional well-being.
Our Story
Born in Colombia over five years ago, La REM began as a small, intimate gathering where people met to mend clothes at home. What started as a gesture of care quickly grew into a collective movement that reached schools, universities, museums, cultural centers, fashion brands, and public institutions. Along the way, La REM evolved into a social enterprise that continues to weave repair into everyday life across different territories.
Our Impact & Achievements
Through Clubs de Costura, workshops, talks, and collaborative projects, La REM has impacted hundreds of people, encouraging them to see repair as a right and a shared responsibility. We have created more than 100 mending clubs in different cities and countries.
Join the Movement
Your support helps keep the culture of repair alive. Every donation allows us to create free and accessible spaces where people learn to mend, and reconnect with their hands, their stories, and their communities.
By donating, you are supporting environmental care, social healing, and collective resilience—one stitich at a time.
You can also be part of the movement from your own home. Host a mending club with your friends, family, or community—an afternoon to repair clothes, share food, talk, and bond. Repair doesn’t need a big stage to exist, only the will to gather and share.
Lets Spread the Word Together
La REM grows through people and the spaces that open their doors to repair. If you feel that we could create something together in your café, school, office, neighborhood, museum, or community space, lets create a mending club together, so the culture of repair can continue to expand across different territories!
